Italian Cuisine
The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.
Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.
If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

Words can not even describe the goodness of the food served here. My mother is Italian and was visiting me in FM. She just got back from seeing her family in Rome and SHE said "this was the best Italian food she has ever had" They even created a new vegetarian dish for me that was so spectacular. From the wine, to the bread and tapenade olive oil spread, our entries and desert, everything was immaculate. Even returned two days later. AND the chef is actually Italian, the real deal, which is hard to find! Came out to our table to be sure everything was perfect. Best kept secret in the south.

Amazing meal and great service. Will definitely go back many times. Had the special snapper with lemon caper butter sauce. Very rich but very great. Also the ravioli also very great but my fav was the appetizer polipo. Octopus cooked so well it was tender and delicious. Had 2 deserts. Both good just wish they had cannoli's just cause I love them.

Authentic Italian simply awesome. Fresh food great service. Definitely a bookmark. Desiced to visit this restaurant while on vacation with whole family after reading the reviews. We were 6 adults and 5 kids. There were no kids menu and at first we were hesitant but from the beginning everyone including the kids loved the food. I never seen my children eat their full plate. And no chicken tenders real authentic food

Very difficult to find GOOD food around our home address.... Based on the feedback we went to this place and whauw... First of all, it's located near the Publix. We had no reservation, but this was not a problem. Very friendly welcome. We asked for a cocktail, but they only have wine and beer. We ordered rose wine (9 dollar/glass) and my son had a coke (2,50 dollar). We shared bruschetta's : lovely fresh flavour (4 pieces / 8 dollar). My son had the octopus (14 dollar) and this was so good, that he ordered a 2nd portion :) My husband ordered the linguine vongole (23 dollar) and again...the taste was fresh and good. I had the carpaccio : also no negative remarks (13 dollar). As dessert we had the home made tiramisu (6 dollar) and the chocomousse (6 dollar). Both njammie !! The cappuccino was a little bit too strong (5 dollar). Total receipt was 118,72 dollar (pre calculated tip 6,72 dollar). It was his money worth and if I must say something negative.... let the customer choose the tip. We hate the pre calculation, also locals don't appreciate it. Nevertheless, I would like to recommend this place because the flavours and natural home made dishes.

There are times when you get lucky And tonight was one of them, the service was excellent, the food preparation was extraordinary, I had the Farm Roast Duck in wine sauce it was magnificent. My wife had the Linguine Vongole( Seafood) needless to say she enjoyed every morsel . I highly recommend this establishment.

Considering that we are from NY, the Italian Restaurant Capital of the United states, we haven't been all that impressed in SW Florida with the choices for going out to eat. Fortunately we can handle ourselves in the kitchen but we would love to go out at least once a week and now that we've discovered Osteria Celli we can. What a breath of fresh air for us knowing a restaurant owner that is the chef and whose passion for creating really good food with no need to compensate with over the top presentations has us wanting to visit again. And it doesn't hurt that he shares our passion for really good Red wine from Italy. The service staff are as nice as can be. This is the only restaurant that we would recommend in Ft Myers.

Party of 3 out for a relaxing dinner on a rainy Saturday night. Started with the Bruschetta & the Melanzana...both fantastic and the thought that crossed my mind was 'garden-fresh'. Our Secondi was a Cesarina which was a Cesar Salad with hard-boiled eggs. The Cesar dressing was fantastic! For main courses we had Fettuccini Bolognese, an 'off-menu special' saffron, shrimp risotto and a Orecchietti Pugliese. All three meals were fantastic. Fresh pasta, fresh ingredients and amazing service. Wine list was all Italian and the bottles we had were tasty. I would come back here again and recommend it to anyone that asked. Buon Appetito!

When we heard there was a new Gourmet Italian restaurant in town we just had to try it. It is set a bit off from street view to the right of the Publix plaza at the corner of Winkler and Summerlin on the way to Sanibel just one street light south of Gladiolus. We went with our friends and their 5 year old girl and we found the place delightful. (I would not recommend it for children even though the chef made a special meal for her they did not have any special seating or glasses for children) A very nice menu that according to Chef Marcos it is all based around what he can get that is local and organic. We had the Polipo and Calamari as appetizers and everyone at the table fell in love with Marcos' Polipo. I enjoyed the Calamari as it was cooked to perfection and the Asian veggies he paired them with excellent. For the main course I had Sea Bass which was the special and I totally enjoyed it. My wife and my friend had the Brasato Short Ribs and they could not stop talking about how good it was. The chef did prepare a special Spaghetti and meatballs for my friend's little girl from the same meatballs as the Polpettine... The meatballs also amazing according to them so next time I may have to try the Polpettine as an appetizer. The house wines were OK. However, next time we will buy a bottle of one of the other wines. Lastly, make sure you leave room for dessert. We had both the Tiramisu and the Mousse al Cioccolato and the Mousse won everyone's heart at the table. All in all we had a wonderful time. Chef Marcos even paid us a visit. This will definitely be one of our regular places from now on.

Great addition and an upgrade to local Italian eateries. I had lunch today and was very impressed by the offerings. Excellent small wine list. Some interesting choices not often found in Fort Myers Italian places. I ordered Orchiette with broccoli rabe and sausage. I make this at home frequently after trying it a few years ago in Barbatella in Naples. Celli makes it beautifully with bits of fresh garlic, a hint of anchovy (at least I think that was the flavor), good parmigiana, little light sausage balls and lightly wilted broccoli rabe. Very delicious. They had two desserts I wish I would see more often locally. Affogato and Panna Cotta. I had the Affogato which was light and perfect after what is a heavy lunch, at least for me. I am anxious to return with friends and we will do this soon. Friendly relaxed atmosphere as an Osteria should be.

I've been here a couple of times and everything I've tried has been very good. The menu is not all that extensive, but it's very intriguing with options you don't see much, if at all. This is not the usual American Italian menu, it's classic south Italy stuff. All the pasta is made in house and the bread comes from New York. You will see the owner cooking your food in the open kitchen and the staff is very friendly. Last night the place was packed, which is a very good sign and even though it was very busy, it wasn't a chaotic situation. Everything went smooth. This is a fairly small place which seats around 60 people and there's not many seats at the bar (maybe10), which is too bad because it's fun to watch all the action. Also, you won't see the restro from the road as it's attached to the end of a Publix strip mall and hidden by trees. Pay no attention to Tony G. or Shelly C's reviews. I'm sure they enjoy Olive Garden just fine. Everything is fresh and wonderful here. I was impressed that the squash ravioli was not stuffed beforehand. The chef literally created them prior to plating the meal. Check out the picture of what they look like. Enjoy!!!

This was our second visit to Osteria Celli and once again it was fabulous. We took our friend who was visiting from Rome and grew up in Napoli. He has been visiting us every year since 2001, and said this is the best restaurant he has eaten at in Fort Myers. The menu is carefully crafted by Chef Marco with items and flavors from his native Italy but not typical of restaurants in SW Florida. The wine selection is also unique with reasonably price bottles from Italy that are not normally seen here. Our friend was very excited to see a few familiar wines from his region. We tried the very tender grilled octopus, bietole (red & gold beet salad) which had a wonderful citrus dressing, Lamb chop, Osso Buco, Veal Milanese, and Pappardelle Pasta with Lamb Sugo. We were all very happy with our choices. We finished with the tiramisu which is about the best we have had. Our server, who we had on our previous visit, is very personable and attentive. We will be bringing our out of town guests and recommending Osteria Celli and Chef Marco to our local friends. This is a wonderful dining experience and unlike anything in Fort Myers.

I had Easter dinner with my family at Osteria Celli and the entire conversation was talking about every dish we had. We had the Lamb ossobucco, Caesar Salad, Calamari(wow), Sea Bass, Octopus, KALE SALAD (OMG) and cheesecake and the best cappucinno ever. This was not my first visit. What a great spot to dine in Fort Myers. If you read about Chef Marco on the website osteriacelli.com you will see why he is so good. He has been the Chef for famous people.

The two people who gave this restaurant poor reviews must be used to places like The Olive Garden and Carrabbas. This is not a chain with a frozen food service. This is genuine Italian food like your Italian grandmother would make. The menu is small but what they make, they make well. Everything is ala carte, so don't expect unlimited salad and breadsticks. However, I could have made a meal out of the delicious bread (complimentary), the best! I ordered escargot as an appetizer which was nothing special but good, while the rest of my party had the octopus (she loved it) and the sautéed Brussels Sprouts. For the main course my sister had the lamb chops which she said were delicious, my friend ordered the gnocchi which I tasted and it was mouthwatering. The best gnocchi I have ever eaten. I ordered a lamb dish which was not to my liking only because I didn't read the description correctly. I will definitely return and have the gnocchi next time. Would like to see a few more items on the menu with better descriptions. My fault, I should have asked for more specifics before I ordered. Service was good and the chef came out to greet us and ask about our meals. I do not expect you will get that kind of attention from the chef (if you can even call them a chef) at The Olive Garden.

The food tonight was fabulous, the service was very, very slow. We were dining with a 16 month old baby. Our reservation was for 5:45 and there were just a few diners in the restaurant. It should not have taken so long for the food to arrive. By the time she came back to see if we were interested in dessert, most of the party had left due to an impatient child. This was not A very good experience for dining with a child.

First visit tonight and we'll be back. An outstanding addition to the Lee County culinary scene. Chef Marco definitely raises the Italian cuisine IQ. Let's get negatives out of the way: All hard surfaces so it is quite noisy, not ideal for a quiet dinner. Bar chairs are uncomfortable. Our server was not up to the level of the food preparation, and needs help on the wine. Okay, now to the good stuff: 5 at our table tonight, and everyone left very happy. The wine list is limited but it is geared to those who appreciate top shelf Italian wines, and included a Lacryma Christi from the slopes of Vesusius and Argriolas from Sardenia - not the normal run of the mill wines in Italian eateries. Enjoyed three appetizers, octopus and Caligaris, both tender and tasty, paired with greens and veggies, nice. And carmelized Brussels sprouts & speck. Lots of approval there. Salads included an Orto spring mix and a Tuscan kale- both got rave reviews. Entrees included the cannelloni romagnoli, pappardelle alla sarda, orecchiette alla pugliese, gnocchi Lombardi and a veal special ... Everyone was happy. I can only speak to the gnocchi, which was served with Speck and a Gorgonzola cream sauce. Speck made it s tad salty, but the cream sauce mellowed it out nicely. Can you spell r-I-c-h? Wow, a little goes a long way, but it was rife with flavor. Tiramisu was a great ending, light and creamy, served in a glass. Really good, Wine tonight was a Lacruma Christi, a 2013, and it was good, it will get better with age for sure. Our second bottle was the Argiolas Korem, 2010, a blend of no ale, caring an and cannonau. Smokey and with a minerality component that made it a great compliment to most everything.

Food was great, service was ok, atmosphere was very loud. We had great appetizers, Brussel sprouts, eggplant and meatballs, all good. For entrees we had the cannotelli with spinach, lamb ragu with pasta and veal Milanese, all were very good. We may have stayed for desert but they were slow to respond so we decided to call it a night.

Food was a nice upgrade from the pizza & everything Italian that many try to be. Daily specials along with a single (large) page of offerings shows thay they have an idea as to what they are, and were doing it well. Food was very good, with the exception that the broccolini was cold on the inside. We visited on a Wednesday evening at 8:00 in March. They were full (all 12 tables). Unfortunately that meant that the waitress was very slow to get around to us. Luckily, they utilize runners so the food and beverages were served in good order and did not rely on the waitress.

How refreshing to have an authentic Italian restaurant with local, organic ingredients. Everything is prepared from scratch and tasted very fresh. Our table had the meatball appetizer, which was very yummy. I had the garbanzo bean and sausage soup, and it was very tasty and filling. Hubby had the Caesar salad and loved it. For entrees, the in-laws had cannelloni and enjoyed it. I had the special - scallops with beet risotto. Very filling and satisfying. Hubby had the stuffed chicken breast and loved it. The chef (Marco?) came out to make sure everything was good and explained his passion to cook with local, organic ingredients. This location has virtually zero visibility from the street, so I hope word of mouth helps it stay in business.

First let me say the food was outstanding and deserved 4-5 stars. Best Gnocchi I have ever had. Unfortunately the service was terrible. Took 45 mins for us to even get the waitress to take our order. Never offered a second drink, couldn't get a water refill (ended up coming from another waitress) and never got bread (after asking for it 2x it finally came out with the appetizer). While I understand a more laid back atmosphere - it was inexcusible. AC was not working - so restaurant was very warm - which was rough. We couldn't even get our check for a good 20 mins because the waitress was drying glasses behind the bar and hadn't written up the check yet. While she was very nice - a place like that should have better service.

We were very thrilled to see that the restaurant was open for lunch. I had a great panini with prosciutto and brie on delicious crispy Italian bread. My wife had the eggplant appetizer with the fresh mozzarella and garden tomato. We will definitely be back. I wish chef Marco much success

A group of 8 recently dined here. Everyone enjoyed their dinners. The ravioli was delicious, along with the veal and roasted chicken under a brick. I enjoyed 2 appetizers for dinner, the octopus and eggplant tomato tower. We would all definitely return. Our server was also very friendly and efficient

Actually I would rate the food as a five star. The only reason to give it four is the service, although friendly, seemed unsure and inexperienced, not all that unusual for a new place. The lamb pappardelle was excellent and my wife's butternut squash ravioli were wonderful. For starters we shared the carmalized Brussels sprouts and the chicken liver pate with carmalized onions. Excellent. The homemade desert, apple compote, we shared and loved. The long and short of it is there aren't many restaurants I would go to and try anything on the menu. This is one of them, someone in the kitchen knows what he's doing. We'll be back.

We arrived there shortly before noon today (Saturday). There were no other customers in the restaurant the entire time we were there. Something is wrong with this. The restaurant is beautiful and very clean looking. The service is friendly yet somewhat unpolished (we had to ask for water and grated cheese for my pasta dish). I had pasta with bolognese (beef) sauce and my wife had cannollini with spinach and ricotta, both fairly simple, basic dishes and they were quite good. Others mention the good bread but none was offered to us. Maybe because this was lunch and not dinner? We also each had a glass of their least expensive wine, an Italian red blend, for $6 per glass. Total bill for a very basic and simple lunch, including tax and tip, was $45. The people they need to base their business on in this location (a shopping center anchored by a Publix grocery) are retirees like us on a fixed income or working suburbanites. This is not Sanibel, Captiva or Fort Myers Beach where vacationing younger free spenders and the well heeled crowds abound. This is an expensive lunch for people in this neighborhood. They need to offer lunch specials, like dishes for $10 or less in order to attract more customers. Also why isn't it possible to offer a decent "house' wine for less than $5 a glass when you can buy a 1.5 liter bottle for less than $10? I feel that I am being slightly over generous with a four star rating but feel that three stars would be unfair. Wish I could give 3 1/2 stars in this case. I can recommend this restaurant only for those who are not on a tight budget.
(4)Deborah D.
We ordered two appetizers and entrees, all was delightful. Very much enjoyed the very good quality bread and tapenade to start, grilled calamari and bruschetta apps; then two freshly made pasta dishes. Will come again!
